The Benefits of Practicing Yoga + Barre In-Person

We already know that yoga and barre are good for us. And that we should probably be practicing more frequently, but are there any benefits to in-person yoga + barre as opposed to virtual classes? The answer is a resounding YES!

Find Community

The power of moving and breathing together, in community, is something that can’t be replicated virtually. This shared experience is what keeps many yogis coming back to their mats on the regular and, in the wake of COVID, it’s also what many of us miss(ed) most.

People who feel more connected to others experience less anxiety and stress and since we know yoga is a great antidote to both, adding a layer of community and connection to your fitness practice is a fool-proof way to feel more zen. Laughter, friendship, support, and camaraderie are what make Ohana special and can’t be replicated virtually.

At Ohana, in addition to in-person yoga +barre classes, our members also receive access to our online community, live events and workshops, and exclusive special events so you can fully immerse yourself in everything our community has to offer. Ohana means family and when you walk through our doors you will feel the love and support from our staff as well as other members. Trust us, it’s a vibe and we want you to experience it too!

Get Alignment tips

Let’s face it, it’s almost impossible to get the same level of instruction virtually as you do during an in-person yoga or barre class. For optimal alignment support, your instructor needs to see your particular body in action and adjust accordingly. Every body is different and our experienced instructors can better guide and support you during an in-person class than they can virtually.

Whether you’re brand new to yoga or barre or have years of experience, the benefits of an in-person class are immeasurable. From small, seemingly minor verbal cues to encourage better alignment to more dynamic hands-on adjustments, there’s just no substitute for an in-person yoga class.

Avoid distractions

Distractions are perhaps the biggest reasons to attend an in-person yoga or barre class. If you’re like me (or most people in our society), you can barely do a down-dog without noticing dust bunnies under the couch or the pile of laundry that still needs to be folded. When you take an in-person class, you eliminate these and other distractions that may prevent you from staying fully present in your practice.

There is something about stepping into a beautiful studio, leaving your troubles at the door, and devoting an hour to yourself completely free of distractions. If you don’t believe me, treat yourself to 30 days of unlimited yoga at Ohana Yoga + Barre and see for yourself!
